Itinerary: Ultimate Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel Hyatt Regency

Meals: Dinner

Welcome to Nepal. Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted and received by one of the company representatives and transferred (in an air-conditioned car) to the Hotel Hyatt Regency, one of the leading Five Star hotels in Kathmandu. In the afternoon, you will be driven in the same car to our office in Kathmandu, where you will be briefed regarding the trek and introduced to the guides and Sherpas. After the meeting, around the afternoon, you will be driven to one of the finest typical traditional restaurants for welcome dinner, where along with the authentic Nepali cuisine, you can also enjoy ethnic dance and music. After the dinner, you will be driven back to the Hotel Hyatt Regency for overnight  stay.

(However, if your flight arrives late, both the dinner and the meeting will be scheduled for the next day. )

Day 2: Kathmandu Valley City Tour

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Today after breakfast at the hotel, you will be taken for a Kathmandu valley city tour, which is again in an air conditioned car. Attractions like the Kathmandu Durbar Square, the temple of Pashupatinath and the Stupa of Boudhanath and Swayambhunath will be visited today. After spending a few hours exploring these UNESCO World Heritage Sites, you will be driven to the office for the final preparation of the trek. Then you will be driven back to the Hotel Hyatt Regency for overnight stay.

(Highlights of the day: History, mystery, artistry preserved and exhibited by centuries old monuments in the Kathamndu Durbar Square; precincts of Pashupatinath that preserves one of the most important Hindu shrine and about 518 temples and monuments; the largest Stupa in Nepal and the holiest Tibetan Buddhist temple outside Tibet- Boudhanath Stupa and the very famous ancient religious architecture on top of the hill in Kathmandu- Swayambhunath, which is believed to have been the oldest religion site in Kathmandu.)

Day 3: Fly to Lukla by regular plane and trek to Phakding (2,652m/8,700ft) (30-35 min flight and 4 hour walk)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Flights to Lukla are always scheduled early in the morning. Therefore, early in the morning you will be transferred to the airport (in an air conditioned car) to board a flight to Lukla.  After about 30-35 minute of  scenic flight, the flight lands on the Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla. At Lukla, your breakfast, porters and other team members will be awaiting your arrival. After a short introduction session with your team members, the breakfast will be served. Meanwhile, the luggage will also be prepared for the porters. Once everything is set, the ultimate trekking starts towards Phakding- the first overnight station located lower than Lukla in between Lukla and Namche. It’s a short hike for about 3-4 hours from Lukla. The up and down trail consists of rough switchbacks and flights of stone stairs cut into the mountains. The trail is also accompanied by small Sherpa villages, prayer wheels and mani stones with carved or painted Buddhist inscriptions. Having past these scenic views, we finally reach the destination of the day- Phakding also known as the lodge city in Khumbu. We check into the Yeti Mountain Home located at the bank of the Dudhkoshi River. The area is quiet and tranquil and the hotel provides the ultimate luxury. Today, if you have time and energy, you can also visit the Rimijung Monastery established by a Sherpa Lama “Khempo Dorjee’ in the 16th Century, Pema Choeling Monastery, Tye Kongma Monastery and Gomlha nunnery settlement. However, the night will be spent in Yeti Mountain Home, where you can enjoy top class fresh cuisine for dinner, well stocked bar, greenhouse, a leisure room with fire chimney and even a small in-house library.

Day 4: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,283ft) (5-6 hour walk)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

After breakfast at Yeti Mountain Home, we walk towards the first suspension bridge en route to the base camp. After crossing the bridge, an easy uphill walk through the small settlements like Zapute, Toktok, Benkar, and Chumoa will take us to Monjo- a gateway to Sagarmatha National Park. After completing the formalities at the entrance to the park, the walk continues downwards to the suspension bridge across the Dudh Koshi River. Crossing this bridge, we walk towards another suspension bridge, cross it and walk towards Hillary Bridge at the bottom of the hill. Once we cross this bridge, we walk up the hill, enjoying the first view of the Everest to get to the destination of the day –Namche Bazaar, a horseshoe-shaped valley in Khumbu. After reaching Namche Bazaar, we check into the Yeti Mountain Home (voted best YMH in the year 2011), located on the upper slope of the historical capital of the Khumbu region.  Top class dinner and accommodation are arranged in Yeti Mountain Home, where you can enjoy fresh and organic dinner and other facilities like bathroom with hot and cold running water, well stocked bar, leisure room with fire chimney, and free wifi. You can also enjoy a massage and well-being treatments at the hotel.

Day 5: Hike to Syangboche (3,720m/12,204ft)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

A hike to Syangboche is the most popular day hike from Namche. About 2 hours of easy walk will take us to Syangboche. This hike is also very essential for the purpose of acclimatization. Therefore, after breakfast, the hike to Syangboche starts with a climb up the Himalayan hill behind Namche. After climbing the hill, the route heads north along a long ridge the Everest View Hotel.  The hotel is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records (2004), as the hotel placed at the highest altitude in the world. We check into the hotel for overnight stay. From the hotel, we enjoy an amazing panorama of Everest and Ama Dablam. If you have time and energy, about 20 minute walk from the hotel will take us to the largest Sherpa village in the Khumbu region Khumjung that gives you a change to visit the monastery that displays a scalp claimed to be from a yeti, a school founded by Sir Edmund Hillary and a few traditional Sherpa houses. However, if you are more interested in exploring nature, then the jungle near Syngboche is a very good option for spotting Danphe. Moreover, if you are really lucky, you can also spot Himalayan Thar and endangered musk deer. Tonight’s dinner and accommodation are arranged in the Everest View  Hotel. You can enjoy accommodation that features en suite bathroom and balcony, dressing area, a small study, room heater, free WiFi and thermos of hot water.

Day 6: Trek to Deboche (3,820m/12,532ft)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Ready enough for further ascent, after breakfast without wasting our time we head towards Sanasa past Khumjhung. Sanasa is a trail junction to Gokyo valley and the Everest Base Camp. The trail first descends to the suspension bridge at Phunki Tenga, before ascending the river valley up to the pass, where the largest and the most important monastery of this region ‘the Tengboche Monastery’ is located. We will spend some time exploring the very beautiful monastery. After exploring the monastery, we will now descend to Deboche for overnight stay. At Deboche, we will check into the Hotel Culture Home.  Both the accommodation and dinner is arranged in the hotel.  The hotel features comfortable accommodation with attached bathroom, cozy bed and spacious room and freshly made organic food for dinner.

Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and Thamserku; forest of Rhododendron with and the occasional encounter with multi-colored pheasant, musk deer  and Himalayan Thar; the architecture of the Tengboche Monastery built in the year 1910, and the activities of the monks living in the monastery; hotel amenities of the Culture Home in Deboche)

Day 7: Trek to Pheriche (4,240m/13,910ft)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Breakfast at the hotel and the trekking towards the Everest Base Camp continues. Starting Deboche, Pangboche is our first stop. After a quick rest, we continue to hike up the valley, enjoying the majestic views of Ama Dablam and other surrounding peaks. The trail is accompanied by many chortens and Stupas as we follow the river all the way up till Somare. At Somare we cross the bridge, which is immediately followed by a flat rocky trail until Orsho. From Orsho, the trail gradually ascends to the Pheriche pass (4,270m), and descends to Pheriche, an overnight stop for this day. The night will be spent in a very comfortable lodge and dinner will also be served at the same lodge.

Day 8: Acclimatization at Pheriche

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Before ascending further, it is very much necessary to adapt to the thinning air. Therefore,  after breakfast in the morning, we go for a short hike (about 1 hour) to the top of a ridge behind Pheriche- the Dingboche view point. We spend some time up there enjoying the very pleasant view and then hike down to Pheriche. After lunch, we also have option attend lecture on altitude at the Himalayan Rescue Association at Pheriche. The remaining day will be spent resting and preparing for the next day’s ascent. The night will be spent in the lodge in Pheriche and the dinner will be served in the same lodge.

(Highlights of the day: The view of the Island Peak, Lhotse, Makalu and Cho Oyu and Dingboche; the useful lecture on altitude sickness at the Himalayan Rescue Association and freshly cooked dinner and cozy accommodation.)

Day 9: Trek to Lobuche (4,910m/16,108ft)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Shortly after breakfast, setting our sights on Lobuche, the trekking resumes. Lobuche is one of the last villages on the way to the base camp of Everest.  The trail first heads toward  the wooden  bridge at Dughla. After crossing the bridge, we climb up the steep terminal of the Khumbu Glacier, which offers memorials of Sherpas who lost their lives on the glaciers of Mt. Everest. Leaving the Khumbu glacier behind, we gently climb up to Lobuche. The night will be spent in a comfortable lodge in Lobuche and the dinner will also be served in the same lodge.

Day 10: Trek to Gorakshep (5,140m/16,863ft) and Hike to Kala Patthar (5,550m) in the evening

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

After breakfast at Lobuche, the hike out of Lobuche continues steadily along the Khumbu Glacier and past the trail for the Italian Pyramid. Initially, the hike is relatively easy with gentle incline; however, after an hour or so, we will be crossing the Kangri Nup Glacier, after which the trail passes through a constant up and down, on the glacial moraine. Shortly after this we reach Gorakshep, situated at the base of Kala Patthar. We have our lunch, rest for some time and around the evening hike up to Kala Pathher to enjoy the sunset view and the view of  Mt. Everest from base camp to the summit. Not just the summit, the top of Kala Patthar also greets you with a very beautiful view of Nuptse, Pumori and the Khumbu Glacier. After enjoying the view, we hike back to Gorakshep for overnight stay. Dinner and accommodation are arranged in a very comfortable lodge in Gorakshep.

Day 11: Trek to the Everest Base Camp (5,320m/17,450ft) and fly out by Helicopter

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

After days of walking towards the destination, today is the day to finally reach our destination- the Everest Base Camp. After breakfast at the lodge, about 2 hours walk from Gorakshep will take you to the Everest Base Camp, located near the Khumbu Icefall. The walk is on the glacier with enough ups and downs and rough terrain. Apart from the terrain you can also enjoy the sound of avalanches and rock falls. On reaching the base camp, we will spend some time taking photos. We will then fly back to Kathmandu on a helicopter. From the airport in Kathmandu, you will be driven (in an air-conditioned car) to the Hotel Hyatt Regency (a five star hotel and resort in Kathmandu) for overnight stay. In the hotel you can enjoy  5 star accommodation and food.

Day 12: Free day in Kathmandu

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Today is a spare day in Kathmandu. Therefore, you can either choose to relax in the hotel or take a stroll around the market in Kathmandu. The day can be spent as per your wish. Moreover, if you are looking to visit markets in Kathmandu, the transportation facility (air conditioned car) will be standby to transfer you to and from your destination. If you are looking for one day trips to utilize this day, the company can make the best arrangement for such trips. The night; however, will be spent in Hotel Hyatt Regency in Kathmandu.

Day 13: Departure day

Today is the last day of your trip in Nepal; therefore, as per your flight schedule you will be transferred to the airport, in an air-conditioned car  by  one of the company representatives for departure. We wish you a safe flight ahead.
