Description |
Quintessentially Latin, Argentina is home of the tango, and one of the most thrilling ways to experience this is at the Esquina Carlos Gardel Tango show in Buenos Aires. Spend the evening sampling local food and wines and watching this passionate dance. |
Day 1 : International outbound flight
Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Buenos Aires.
Day 2 : Buenos Aires
Arriving in Buenos Aires you're met and taken to your hotel by your private driver and guide. Spend the rest of today relaxing after your flight.
Day 3 : Buenos Aires
Enjoy a guided tour of Buenos Aires today. Your guide takes you to the city's main sights, such as the Plaza de Mayo where former leader Eva Perón addressed the crowds, and the gentrified Madero district. Continue to football-crazy La Boca and vibrant Caminito Street. See the birthplace of tango in the city and finish in the chic Palermo and Recoleta areas. This is a shared tour and lasts up to four hours.
Day 4 : Buenos Aires
A day at leisure in Buenos Aires. We suggest simply ambling around the city's districts, which all have their own distinct character. You may also like to take a tour of the Teatro Colon, an opera house with a French Renaissance façade and some of the best acoustics in the world. This evening, take a shared transfer to the famous Carlos Gardel Tango Show, which includes dinner.
Day 5 : Iguazu
Take a private transfer to the airport for your flight to the Iguazu Falls. The flight lasts around two hours. Arriving at the airport, you're met by your chauffeur-guide and driven to your hotel. Relax and rest after your journey.
Day 6 : Iguazu
Spend the first half of today exploring the Argentine side of the falls with your chauffeur-guide. Start at the Visitors' Centre and take the small train up through the jungle. You can roam around walkways ensconced in jungle and admire the falls from different vantage points. Get up close to the 'Devil's Throat', the most powerful section that sends up vast clouds of spray. You have the rest of the day at leisure: swim in your hotel's pool or hire mountain bikes to explore more of the trails around the falls.
Day 7 : Rio de Janeiro
Take a private transfer to the airport for your two hour flight to Rio de Janeiro. En route, visit the viewpoints of the Brazilian side of the falls. Arriving in Rio, you're met by your chauffeur-guide and taken to your hotel. You have the rest of the day to relax and rest.
Day 8 : Rio de Janeiro
Your private chauffeur-guide picks you up from your hotel for a full day (six hour) tour of Rio's highlights. Your first stop could be Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, followed by a cable car trip to the summit of Sugar Loaf Mountain. Here, look across to where Christ the Redeemer surveys the city from his 710 m (2,329 ft) perch. After lunch (not included, although your guide can recommend a place to eat), take the cog railway up Corcovado Mountain to stand right under the statue.
Day 9 : Rio de Janeiro
A day at leisure to further explore Rio de Janeiro under your own steam. You might like to walk along the beachfront promenades, visit the galleries of the arty and well-heeled Santa Teresa district, or stroll in the lush Botanic Gardens. You can also hire bicycles to explore the promenades. Alternatively, we can arrange a 4x4 tour of the urban rainforest at Tijuca Gardens.
Day 10 : International return flight
Take a private transfer to the airport in time to catch your onward flight.
Day 11 : International return flight
Arrive home today to complete your journey.
