Description |
Botswana is one of Africa’s premier safari destinations. Among the things to do, the Okavango Delta is an undeniable highlight. One of the best ways to explore its twinkling waters is by mokoro (the local canoe), while in the Central Kalahari you can go in search of the charismatic black-maned lion. If you’re seeking an authentic and somewhat rustic safari experience, mobile camping is an exhilarating option for your Botswana holiday. Immerse yourself in the true spirit of Africa with experienced guides who set up a temporary camp for you in some of the more remote areas of the country. |
Day 1 : International outbound flight
Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Chobe National Park.
Day 2 : Chobe National Park
This morning you will fly into Kasane in Botswana. You will be collected from here and taken the remainder of the way to Muchenje Lodge. The lodge is located some 50kms west of Kasane so avoids the busiest section of the park.
Day 3 : Chobe National Park
During your stay at Muchenje you can enjoy a wide range of activities including boat cruises, game drives and walks as well as village and school visits.
Day 4 : Chobe National Park
Enjoy another day on safari today from Muchenje Safari Lodge.

Day 8 : Shinde Concession
Today you'll take a light aircraft out of the National Park and in to the Shinde Private Concession. Here you will be met by your private guide and taken to the Footsteps camp where you will have sole use of this beautiful camp. This is a safari camp as it used to be - rustic - yet comfortable with no detail overlooked. You will stay here for three nights on a private basis. The camp comes complete with a private guide, chef and camp staff.
Day 9 : Shinde Concession
The Young Explorers program is great for families who are a little bit more adventurous and want to experience a bit more of the real side of camping in the bush. The camp is a little rustic but far from being basic. It really is an outstanding experience. The camp mainly concentrates on walking as the name suggests, but mokoro trips are also possible and game drives are available if you wish. This is a fantastic experience and you will learn so much along the way from the expert guides.
Day 10 : Shinde Concession
A second full day at Footsteps. The guides are fabulous and experts at engaging the whole family and teaching them about the bush.
