Description |
Ecuador may be slightly dwarfed by other South American countries, but it punches well above its weight. It’s tempting to pass through only the mainland en route to the celebrated Galapagos Islands, but our specialists would urge you to holiday in continental Ecuador, too. They’re able to help you experience all the country’s beguiling variety in a tailor-made Ecuador itinerary. |
Day 1 : Quito
Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Quito. On arrival in Quito you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Day 2 : Coca
This morning you will take the short flight to Coca followed by a speedboat transfer to board the MV Anakonda. Amazon activities begin this afternoon.

This morning, you'll likely disembark and go ashore for short guided walks through the rainforest to explore its flora and fauna. In the afternoon, as your vessel enters the blackwater systems of the Amazon Basin, you might take a canoe trip upstream. Look out for pink river dolphins as well as several species of monkey: black-mantled tamarins, red howlers and squirrel monkeys.
Day 4 : Coca
After breakfast, you'll disembark and visit a local school - it's a great opportunity to get a sense of daily life in this remote jungle community. In the afternoon your vessel will sail upstream to explore some of the larger river islands.
Day 5 : Coca
Today might see you visiting a local community and learning about their traditional handicrafts, observing the wildlife spectacle of a parrot clay lick, and spending time in Limoncocha Biological Reserve (a nature reserve with over 400 bird species). At dusk, keep an eye out for black cayman.
