Our specialists will draw on their knowledge of the country to plan your tour of Portugal, where you could hear melancholy fado music in Lisbon, taste port wine in Porto and the Douro Valley, and sample the traditional custard tarts of Belém. |
Day 1-2: Lisbon
Accommodation: Novotel Lisboa or similar
Arrival at any time. Learn about important areas in Lisbon’s history as you explore its most interesting neighborhoods. Discover Chiado and Bairro Alto and admire the views from Miradouro São Pedro de Alcântara. Ride the Eleléctrico tram and visit the Alfama district.
Day 2-4: Porto
Accommodation: Mercury Porto Centro or similar
Experience a walking tour through the streets of the historical center of Porto, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Marvel at the fantastic views of the Crystal Palace Gardens, walk along the famous Aliados Avenue, catch a glimpse of the Douro River from Louis I Bridge, descend down the narrow streets and staircases of the Miragaia neighborhood, learn about Porto's founding and formation.
Day 5-6: Madrid
Accommodation: Mercury Lupo de Vega or similar
Enjoy a walking tour around this beautiful city, additionally visit the Prado Museum or Reina Sofia Museum where you will see the works of Picasso and Dali or ancient Toledo.
Day 6-7: Barcelona
Today you will fly to Barcelona, exploring this beautiful city, visiting the Gothic Quarter and Las Ramblas, Sagrada Familia, Parc Güell, and in the evening go to try tapas and Spanish wine. You will have free time to relax on the Barcelonetta beach or go shopping.
Day 1 Madrid

Arriving in Madrid your private driver will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel. After you check in, you’ll enjoy a panoramic tour of the city.
Day 2 Madrid

This morning you’ll head outside of Madrid to explore the grand palace at El Escorial and the controversial Spanish Civil War memorial at the Valley of the Fallen. The afternoon is yours to continue exploring Madrid on your own.
Day 3 Salamanca

Today you’ll leave Madrid and head north to Salamanca, known for its prestigious university, the oldest in Spain. You’ll have a walking tour through the city where you can take in the fascinating blend of architectural styles throughout.
Day 4 Marialva

Today you move on from Spain to Portugal as your private driver takes you from Salamanca to the Upper Douro Valley. Along the way you’ll stop in the small town of Belmonte, home to the only population of Jews in Portugal to survive the Inquisition.
Day 5 Marialva

You’ll have the morning and afternoon at leisure today to relax at your hotel, taking advantage of the spa or meandering through the surrounding area. This evening you’ll venture out to the Côa Valley to get an up-close look at some pre-historic rock art, accompanied by a picnic dinner.
Day 6 Porto

Continuing through Portugal you’ll move on from the Douro Valley to Porto, stopping along the way for wine tastings and lunch in the Lower Douro Valley. Arriving in Porto you’ll check into your hotel and have the evening at leisure.
Day 7 Porto

Get to know Porto today on a half-day walking tour exploring the highlights of the city, including the Livraria Lello and the azulejo-tiled São Bento train station. The afternoon is yours to spend at leisure, perhaps venturing across the river to Vila Nova de Gaia to explore some of the port wine caves.
Day 8 Porto

Head out from Porto today to the countryside where you’ll enjoy a cooking class and learn to prepare a traditional Portuguese country meal. You’ll also be able to have a tour around the property, including beautiful hedge mazes and two black swans.
Day 9 Return home
Porto
Bid Portugal farewell as your private driver takes you to the Porto airport.
