Description |
Join studio-yoggy, the largest yoga studio network in Japan for an exciting yoga tour and Zen meditation retreat. First, experience our unique atmosphere and teaching approach with our Japanese kula at one of our studios in Tokyo. Then, travel for a two-day Zen meditation and yoga retreat at Takao-san Temple, an hour outside of Tokyo. Next, we travel to Yokohama for the annual Yoga Festa for day-long yoga activities and fun. The final day may be used for free time or to go on an optional side-trip to the seaside, spiritual city of Kamakura. All skill levels and abilities are welcome. |
Day 1: Arrive in Tokyo

Day 2: Orientation

Stay in Tokyo
Yoga at studio-yoggy’s Shinjuku West Studio.
Sightseeing tour through Shinjuku’s Metropolitan Government area with stunning views.
Day 3: Travel to Takao Temple
Meals: Breakfast
Stay: Takao Temple
Retreat led by lead studio-yoggy instructors to feature:
Shojin ryo-ri: Japanese traditional vegetarian dish
(Original vegetarian dish for Buddhist monks)
Shakyo practice (Hand-copying sutra)
Yoga lecture by Yasushi
Day 4: Morning Ritual
Meals: Breakfast
Stay in Tokyo
Morning yoga practice
Goma (Fire ritual for spiritual cleansing)
Hiking to the top of Mount Takao (about 40 minutes from the temple)
Go to onsen (Hot spring) by Takao station
Return to Tokyo, Check in hotel
Day 5: Yoga at studio-yoggy’s Shinjuku West Studio

Visit Meiji Jingu-mae Shrine (the Emperor’s shrine)
Sightseeing in Omotesando, Harajuku
