If you like to travel at your own pace and visit destinations and attractions outside the conventional circuits, the "self-drive" trips are ideal for you, since you will have your own vehicle to travel the routes of the Province of Misiones. |
DAY 1: ARRIVAL TO PUERTO IGUAZU
Arrival at Iguazu Airport, where you can pick-up your rental car. From there, we recommend you to go to the hotel, located in the city (20 km) to make the check-in and see your room.
Activity recommended: During the afternoon, we suggest you visit the Iguazu Biocenter, a jungle interpretation center. This is an excellent introduction to the destination because it allows you the sustainable behaviors that are practiced there. Also, you will have the possibility to visit a butterfly farm, serpentarium, birds and learn about the flora of the Atlantic Rainforest.
Overnight in Puerto Iguazu.
DAY 2: VISIT TO THE IGUAZU NATIONAL PARK - IGUAZU FALLS - ARGENTINIAN SIDE.
After breakfast, you will have the full day to visit the Iguazu National Park, located less than 20 kilometers from the city.
Once you pay the park fee, you cannot miss the three main circuits, which can be accessed through a train service or walking along the pedestrian path "Sendero Verde" (Green Path).
The circuits are:
Upper Walkway: 800 meters of walkways where you can observe the waterfalls from the top of the Dos Hermanas, Bosetti, Bernabé Méndez, M'Bigua and other waterfalls. Duration of the walk one (1) hour.
Lower Walk: Walk 1,600 meters of footbridge, elevated above the surface of the land, having a view from the foot of the falls Dos Hermanas, Alvar Núñez, San Martín, Bosetti, the Peñón de la Bella Vista from where you have a panoramic view of the Devil's Throat and the Canyon of the Lower Iguazú River. The duration of the tour is two (2) hours.
Garganta del Diablo (Devil's Throat): Leaving from the Cataratas Station, the train goes to the Garganta Station in about 18 minutes. The walk along the footbridges has an extension of 1,200 meters to reach the main balcony and enjoy the most spectacular and most important waterfalls of the Falls, the Garganta del Diablo (Devil's Throat). The duration of the tour is two (2) hours.
Recommended activity: For adventure lovers, we recommend the "Great Adventure" tour, which includes a movitrack ride through the jungle and a semi-rigid navigation through the river rapids to reach some of the most important falls (not allowed for children under 12 years old).
Overnight in Puerto Iguazú.
DAY 3: VISIT TO IGUAZU NATIONAL PARK - IGUAZU FALLS - BRASILIAN SIDE.
After breakfast, we recommend you to visit the Brasilian side of Iguazu Falls. This park offers the best views of the falls as it is located in front of the falls on the Argentine side.
The park is located less than 20 KM from the city of Puerto Iguazu. Once you cross the border into Brazil, you arrive at the Visitor's Center and Gateway to the National Park, where you must pay the entrance fee.
A bus takes you through the jungle until you reach the 1200 meter footbridge that leads to the panoramic viewpoints of the different falls.
The visit to this park only takes half a day so, in the afternoon, we recommend the following activities:
*Visit to the Bird Park. City sanctuary of thousands of native birds.
*Helicopter flight over the Iguazu Falls.
*Visit to the Itaipu Dam, considered the greatest masterpiece of hydroelectric engineering shared between Brazil and Paraguay.

Recommended Activities:
Nautical tour: nautical excursion of more than 10km along the Yabotí Stream and the Uruguay River. The Moconá Falls are formed by the unevenness in the course of the Uruguay River, so its waterfalls are parallel to the riverbed. They create a corridor of waterfalls almost 3 km long and can reach up to 10 meters high.
The channel where the falls fall is a geographical fault and its depth exceeds 170 meters at some points. The activity lasts approximately one hour.
Hiking in the jungle. Recommended trails: ''Chachí'' 1800 mts (low difficulty), ''La Gruta'' 600 mts, (high difficulty) and the access to the pier Piedra Bugre, 2 km (high difficulty).
Canoeing on the Uruguay River, kayak rental, swimming in the streams and 4x4 crossings.
IMPORTANT: The height of our falls varies from day to day and this factor governs the park and the river walk at the foot of the falls.
