Description |
This itinerary in the southern part of Mexico’s sunny Baja Peninsula provides an experience that cannot be matched. On this Mexico family vacation, you'll witness an extraordinary Baja whale watch! Experience hordes of magnificent gray whales using Magdalena Bay as their breeding and birthing ground at the tail end (no pun intended!) of their migration from the frigid and distant waters of Alaska. Two whale-watching excursions deliver an incredibly close view of these majestic giants breaching the surface – so close, in fact, that you may just get the chance to reach out and touch them! |
You absolutely will not find another tour out there as packed with activities and attractions as this one, provided by CharlieTheTraveler. You will also not find another tour out there that offers it all ""FIRST CLASS,"" yet for a relatively low price. We have thousands of travelers taking this specific tour every year-and that's because no competitor can beat us on quality, price and substance. Below are just some examples of what you will see and do on this tour:
|
Day 1: Depart home / Arrive San Jose del Cabo
Meals: Dinner
Accommodation: Santo Vino
Welcome to Mexico’s Baja! Bordered by both the wild Pacific Ocean and the protected Sea of Cortez, this finger-like desert peninsula is a haven for exotic plants, birds and animals (both terrestrial and marine) and home to friendly and welcoming people. Whether vacationing with teens or with youngsters—the Baja offers unexpected delights and adventures for all ages.
Days 2-4 – Todos Santos
An undiscovered gem, Todos Santos is back-dropped by the Sierra de Laguna Mountains and rimmed with gorgeous beaches and lush gardens. It’s an official Pueblo Mágico—one of Mexico’s 50 off-the-beaten-path towns known for their “magical” ambiance. During your time here, you and the kids will have the chance to make local friends and fully explore this fascinating, less-traveled area—on foot, by horseback, and in the water.

Days 5-6: La Paz
Cross the peninsula, arriving in La Paz on the Sea of Cortez. Jacques Cousteau once called the Sea of Cortez— one of the planet’s most bio-diverse ecosystems—“the aquarium of the world” and “the Galapagos of North America.” Our adventure at Los Islotes today is a trip highlight—an unforgettable nose-to-nose (literally!) encounter with the local sea lions that thrive in these nutrient-rich waters.
Transfer to La Paz
Kayaking in picturesque, tranquil Balandra Bay
Swimming with sea lions
Dinner at El Bismarkcito
Day 7: La Paz / Magdalena Bay
Magdalena Bay is one of the best places on the continent to view the seasonal migration of California gray whales. From the nutrient-rich waters of Alaska, the grays begin their southbound journey in autumn, swimming more than 4,000 miles to the Baja coast. From late January through mid-March, the 35-mile-long Magdalena Bay, sheltered from the wild Pacific by barrier sand islands, serves as the whales’ breeding and birthing ground. During our time here, two whale-watching excursions will put you and your family right in the thick of things... you’ll be so close to these magnificent mammals, it will take your breath away.

Day 8: Magdalena Bay
Meals: Dinner
Magdalena Bay – more whale watching
Transfer to Todos Santos
Day 9: Todos Santos to San Jose del Cabo / Arrive home
After a fond farewell, a Thomson Family Adventures representative will help with your transfer to the airport in San Jose del Cabo for your international flight home. Hasta luego...!
Day 1: Wine & Jazz Sunset Cruise with an Open Bar
Cabo San Lucas is the base from which we make daily excursions. As we do not know your arrival time into this resort town, our tour officially begins in the evening. We go on a wine and jazz sunset cruise. Appetizers and an open bar are included on this catamaran ride.
Day 2: Swimming with Whale Sharks & Checking Out Hotel California or Snorkeling on the Island of the Holy Spirit
We are taken to a dock near to the city of La Paz. There a boat is waiting for us. We are heading to the uninhabited island of Espiritu Santo (a.k.a. Island of the Holy Spirit). The surrounding reefs are home to parrotfish, sharks, rays, turtles, dolphins and even whales. Birds include brown pelicans, turkey vultures and hummingbirds. Breakfast and lunch are included on today’s tour.
Note that from October to April, you can substitute the Espiritu Santo tour for swimming alongside whale sharks in the open ocean as well as visiting the world-renowned Hotel California. Please let us know.
Day 3: The Day Remembered as an "Adrenaline Rush" & Then Interacting with Dolphins
The day starts in a ranch area called Miraflores. There we go zip lining, rappelling, rock climbing and swinging on a pendulum (we get pushed from the edge of a canyon wall and swing back and forth). Lunch is included after all these activities. The day ends at the marina in Cabo San Lucas. There we interact and swim with dolphins.
Day 4: Powered Paragliding, Horseback Riding Along the Beach, Camel Riding & Driving an ATV in the Desert
Today we head to a ranch and beach area called Migriño. There we go camel riding as well as horseback riding in the desert and along the beach. Also, we drive an all-terrain vehicle (a.k.a. ATV) or utility task vehicle (a.k.a. UTV) through the desert and along the beach. Lunch is included on today’s tour.
Let us know if you would like for today to take our afternoon powered paragliding (a.k.a. paramotoring) tour over a beautiful beach. It is not automatically included on the standard tour because while some welcome the adrenaline rush, others are afraid of heights. Our customers who have added this tour absolutely love it.
Day 5: Parasailing & Visiting Cabo’s Greatest Landmark by Boat
From the marina in Cabo San Lucas, we are taken by boat to the Arch of Cabo San Lucas and Chileno Bay. Snacks and water are included on today’s tour, as is snorkeling. The day ends with parasailing.
Day 6: Our Tour Ends This Morning
Transportation will be arranged for you to reach the international airport in Cabo San Lucas.
