Description | Vancouver, with its historic streets and elegant parks, and Toronto, with its iconic skyline and miles of shopping streets, are separated by more than 4,000km of awe-inspiring countryside - boundless prairies, dense pine forests, glittering lakes and stately snow-capped mountains. The epic distance between these two great Canadian cities is best travelled by train. Enjoy the complete relaxation of ‘The Canadian’ and the luxury of the Rocky Mountaineer, which has offered an iconic vantage point on the Rockies’ amazing scenic panoramas for more than 20 years. Our odyssey includes two nights in beautiful Banff, a day in Niagara Falls and a ride on the Ice Explorer across the Athabasca Glacier. |
Day 1 London - Toronto
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to London Heathrow Airport and a direct, scheduled Air Canada flight to Toronto. On arrival we transfer to the Chelsea Hotel (3T).
Day 2 Toronto
After our morning city tour, the rest of the day is free to enjoy Toronto. The CN Tower is worth a visit before you leave the city; some 1,700 feet high, it houses the revolving 360 Restaurant, as well as the observation deck with sections of glass flooring.
Day 3 Toronto - Niagara Falls - ‘The Canadian’
We depart Toronto this morning for a full-day excursion to the spectacle that is Niagara Falls - one of the natural wonders of the world. Early evening, we return to Toronto and board VIA Rail’s flagship train ‘The Canadian’ for our three-day journey to the west.
Day 4 ‘The Canadian’
As you wake this morning to the hypnotic sound of the train moving over the tracks, our journey continues through Ontario towards Manitoba. We have the whole day to relax and take advantage of VIA Rail’s fantastic service.
Day 5 ‘The Canadian’ (Winnipeg)
In the distant horizon stands Winnipeg, where we make a scheduled stop this morning, giving us time to stretch our legs on terra firma. We continue our journey this afternoon through Manitoba’s prairies and into Saskatchewan, before crossing into Alberta.
Day 6 ‘The Canadian’ (Edmonton) - Jasper
‘The Canadian’ makes a brief stop this morning in Edmonton, provincial capital of Alberta, before completing our journey through Jasper National Park to the town of Jasper. On arrival this afternoon we make our way to our hotel for the next two nights, the Lobstick Lodge (3T). Enjoy some time exploring this easy-going alpine town with its many restaurants, cafés and brewpubs.
Day 7 Jasper
Today we board our coach for a tour of Jasper National Park, with a visit to the picturesque Maligne Lake, Maligne Canyon and the shores of Medicine Lake. The rest of the day is free to relax or maybe get active with so many options to choose from.
Day 8 Jasper - Columbia Icefield - Banff
This morning we take the Icefield Parkway from Jasper National Park to Banff National Park. The halfway point is the spectacular Columbia Icefield, one of the biggest accumulations of ice and snow south of the Arctic Circle. Here we take an included Ice Explorer ride on to the surface of the Athabasca Glacier (subject to favourable weather conditions). Our hotel for the next two nights is the Ptarmigan Inn (3T+) or Banff Caribou Lodge (3T+).
Day 9 Banff - Lake Louise - Banff
Today we tour the surrounds of Banff and the lake areas, which include Moraine Lake and famous Lake Louise. At Lake Louise you have the opportunity to take a gondola to the mountaintop for superb views and photo opportunities or visit the Chateau, a unique luxury hotel with its gardens leading to the lakeshore. Returning to Banff and our hotel, you are free this evening to experience the nightlife of this lovely mountain resort.
Day 10 Rocky Mountaineer (Banff - Kamloops)
This morning we have an early start to board the Rocky Mountaineer train for a trip of a lifetime through the Rocky Mountains. Your journey offers an exhilarating range of scenery combined with exceptional comfort and service to ensure you have a memorable journey. We travel through tunnels, along rocky lakeshores and across the ranch lands of the interior. Today’s highlights include the Continental Divide, the Spiral Tunnels, Kicking Horse Canyon and Rogers Pass. We arrive in Kamloops early this evening. Your accommodation in Kamloops is arranged by Rocky Mountaineer.
Day 11 Rocky Mountaineer (Kamloops - Vancouver)
We continue our journey west on the iconic Rocky Mountaineer. You will see dramatic changes in scenery, from the desert-like environment of the interior, through winding river canyons and forests surrounded by the peaks of the Coast and Cascade Mountains, to the lush green fields of the Fraser River Valley. We will pass along the Thompson River and the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon. You will bid farewell to your onboard hosts in Vancouver, where your coach awaits for an introduction to Vancouver on a city tour. Our home for the next two nights is the Renaissance Inn Vancouver Downtown (3T).
Day 12 Vancouver
Today is free to explore Vancouver at your leisure or maybe take the optional excursion to Vancouver Island.
Day 13 Vancouver - In flight
Enjoy some free time this morning before we leave for Vancouver Airport for a direct, scheduled Air Canada flight to London.
Day 14 London
