The hidden stronghold of Annapurna Base Camp Trek (also known as Annapurna Sanctuary or ABC) is another one of Nepal’s scenic and adventurous trekking routes.During Annapurna Base Camp Trek,we can see cascading waterfalls, beautiful villages, terraced farmlands, lush rhododendron forests, and amazing mountain vistas before reaching the base of the mighty Annapurna. |
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon your arrival at Kathmandu airport, you will be greeted by a representative from Epic Adventures. After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc) pick up your luggage and look for our representative with an Epic Adventures display board at the arrival gate. You will be then transferred to your hotel.
Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing & Preparation for the Trek

Today after breakfast we start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. The day will also be for finalizing official procedure and other necessary arrangements. You will be also briefed on the nature of the trek, equipments and team composition. Some of landmarks we visit include the World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupati Nath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambhu Nath) and Buddhists shrine (Bouddha Nath). In the afternoon, there will be a pre-trip discussion where we can meet our trek leader and other team members. You can also make your last minute buying of personal items as you will be flying to the Himalayas tomorrow.
Day 3 : Drive or /fly to pokhara (800m) 6 to 7 hrs. drive or/30 min fly to Pokhara
Meals: Breakfast
After breakfast we begin our drive to Pokhara by bus and air transportation.it takes 30 minutes. It’s best to get a seat on the right side to ensure you can enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way. On arrival we will be escorted to our hotel and spend a leisurely afternoon in the beautiful lakeside town of Pokhara. Overnight in Pokhara.
Day 4: After breakfast we drive to Nayapul (1 hour and 20 minutes) and start the trek.

From Birethanti, we trek to Ghandruk, a beautiful village mostly inhabited by the Gurung community. If time permits, we also visit the Gurung museum today. Overnight in Ghandruk.
Day 5: Ghandruk to Chhomrong (2170m/7120ft): 5 – 6 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
At this juncture, we climb up for around an hour up to Kimrungdanda. On the way, we can enjoy great views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Fishtail Mountain (Machhapuchhre) and Ganggapurna. A steep descent takes us to the Kimrong Khola. After another steep ascent from Kimrong Khola to Chere Danda, we descend for a while then it’s a gentle walk to Chhomrong. Chhomrong is a beautiful village located on the lap of the giant Annapurna massive. Overnight in Chhomrong.
Day 6: Chhomrong to Bamboo (2310m/7578ft): 4 – 5 hours

The trail out of Chhomrong descends via 2500 stone steps and crosses the Chhomrong Khola on a swaying suspension bridge. It is an uphill climb to Sinuwa. Next, we pass through a beautiful forest to Kuldihar followed by an easy downhill walk to Bamboo. Overnight in Bamboo.
Day 7: Bamboo to Deurali (3230m/10,595ft): 3 – 4 hours

We pass through the bamboo forest which is damp and cold then ascend steadily with fewer steep sections. It is only after reaching Himalaya Hotel that the forest opens up and we are out in the sun again with astounding views of the glacial river below. It is a steep climb up through a much drier forest before reaching Hinku Cave. From here we can see the trail drop closer to the river before climbing again to Deurali, the most scenic stretch of the day. The vegetation is sparser, allowing magical views of the valley, the river below, and the sheer rock face cliffs above with bands of wispy waterfalls. Overnight in Deurali.
Day 8: Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m/13,545ft) via Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3700m/12135ft): 5- 6 hours

Climb gently through a river bed then over a steep trail over to the mountain side. The trek from Bagar to Machhapuchhre Base Camp is somewhat strenuous. From Machhapuchhre Base Camp we get excellent views of the majestic Machhapuchhre along with Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharvachuli and Gangapurna which is certainly a rewarding experience. The vegetation changes on our way to ABC and the path widens as we enter the Annapurna Sanctuary. From here, we get sensational views of the near-vertical south face of Annapurna towering above us. The Sanctuary boasts of a dynamic view without anything impeding the 360-degree panorama. From Base Camp we again get to savor mesmerizing views of the Machhapuchhre, Annapurna south, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli and other peaks. Overnight at Annapurna Base Camp.
Day 9: Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo: 7 – 8 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
From Annapurna Base Camp we retrace our steps to Bamboo. Today’s trek is downhill so it shouldn’t be very difficult. Besides, we will always have the company of the extraordinary landscape to cheer us up. Overnight in Bamboo.
Day 10: Bamboo to Jhinu Danda (1760m/5770 ft): 5 – 6 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
From Bamboo, it is an uphill trek to Kuldighar followed by a downhill walk to Chhomrong Khola. Then we climb the stone steps to Chhomrong. The trail then descends to Jhinu Danda, where we will be resting for the night.Today we will have an opportunity to enjoy hot springs just 15-20 minute downhill walk from Jhinu Danda to soothe our aching body. Overnight in Jhinu Danda.
Day11: Trek to Nayapul then drive to Pokhara: 6 hours trek, 1 hour drive
Meals: Breakfast and Lunch
On our way to Nayapul from Jhinu Danda we get to enjoy the amazing hill landscape of western Nepal. We have lunch on the way. Our trek will end at Nayapul where we board our vehicle to Pokhara. Overnight in Pokhara.
Day12: Drive to Kathmandu
Meals: Dinner
After breakfast you will depart for Kathmandu. To celebrate the successful completion of our journey, in the evening, there will be dinner and Cultural show hosted by Epic Adventures. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 13: Final Departure

Our journey in Nepal comes to an end today! An Epic Adventures representative will drop us off at the airport approximately 3 hours before our scheduled flight. On our way home, we have plenty of time to plan our next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.
Day 1 Kathmandu Arrival (1,350m/4,428ft)
Arrival at Tribhuvan International airport
Meet at the airport outside the arrival terminal gate by our representative. You will be transferred to your hotel. Overnight at your hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 2 Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing
Half-day tour of the old Kathmandu city, its Durbar square, and the myriad of temples including the temple residence of the Living Goddess, Kumari. Proceed to Swayambhunath Stupa. Swayambhunath is a Buddhist Stupa which is said to be more than 2000 years old, is perched on a hillock 77 meters above the valley floor and offers a bird’s eye view of Kathmandu City. In the afternoon, take a tour to Patan, also known as Lalitpur or the “city of beauty” and the oldest city in the valley. This is a great center both for the Newari Buddhist religion and of traditional arts & crafts with 136 bahals or courtyards and 55 major temples.

Day 3 Kathmandu – Lukla – Phakding (2,651m/8,700ft): 40 minutes flight, 3 – 4 hours trek
We take an early morning flight to Lukla and meet the rest of the crew members in Lukla and start our trek. The trail then leads to Phakding via Cheplung village from where we get a magnificent view of Mt. Khumbila, a sacred mountain which has never been summited.

Day 4 Phakding – Namche (3,438m/11,280 ft): 5 – 6 hours
We continue our walk on the trail that goes north up the Benkar valley. We cross Dudh Koshi River and pass Chumoa and Monjo villages leading the entrance to the Everest National Park. Then we pass Jorsale village crossing a suspension bridge and walk alongside the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers. We continue our trek ascending on a steep trail and reach Namche Bazaar.

Day 5 Acclimatization Day – Namche Bazaar: (3,440m/11,284 ft)
We explore Namche Bazaar and hike up to Sagarmatha National Park and enjoy the sunrise over the Himalayas including Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde, and so on. If you are interested in a day hike, we can trek to Khumjung village.

Day 6 Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,870m/12,694 ft): 5- 6 hours
The trek to Phunki is an easy walk. From here, we ascend towards Tengboche village exploring the famous Tengboche monastery which is the biggest monastery of the Everest region. It is located within the Sagarmatha National Park which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The monastery is blessed with panoramic views of the Himalayas including Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. The Tengboche Monastery opens at 3:00 pm, so if we reach the place by 3 o’clock we can observe a Buddhist religious ceremony.

Day 7 Tengboche to Dingboche (4,360 m/14,300 ft): 5 – 6 hours
We walk downhill to Debuche and cross the Imja River to reach Pangboche. The trek continues passing through the upper Pangboche trail and explore the Pangboche Monastery. We continue our walk to Dingboche via Imja Valley and Lobuche River.

Day 8 Dingboche: Acclimatization
Spending a day in Dingboche will help us to acclimatize to the high altitude. We can spend time hiking to a hill about four hours behind Dingboche to view the world’s tallest peaks including Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu.

Day 9 Dingboche – Lobuche 4,900 m
The trek continues, walking around 7 hours (9 km) along the Himalayan trail and heading towards the famous base camp of the world’s tallest peak while exploring the breathtaking and magnificent view of the mountains. The trail then continues via Dughla pass to the mountain village of Lobuche for the overnight stay.

Day 10 Lobuche – Gorak Shep 5160 m – Everest Base Camp 5365 m
Today we continue our trek to Everest Base camp, walking for nearly 12 hours (17 km) to Gorakshep. After reaching Gorakshep, check in at the lodge, have lunch, and walk to the base camp to enjoy the amazing views of Nuptse, Khumbuste, and Pumori mountains. Then we walk back to Gorakshep from the base camp for an overnight stay.

Day 11 Gorakshep – Kala Pathar 5555 meters – Pheriche 4200 m
After an early breakfast, we walk up to the highest point of the trek, Kalapatthar, for a magnificent viewpoint of the world’s tallest mountain, Mt. Everest, and several other mountains like Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse mountains. It takes about three hours to reach the top. After spending some time at the summit of Kala Patthar, we walk back to Gorak Shep for lunch which is relatively easier than hiking up to Kala Pathhar. After lunch, we hike down to Pheriche to spend the night.

Day 12 Pheriche – Tyangboche -3800 m
Today we trek down to Tyangboche, walking around 4 hours (9 km).

Day 13 Tyangboche – Monjo – 2800 m
Day 13: Tyangboche – Monjo – 2800 m
We trek from Tyangboche to Monjo via Namche Bazaar, walking around 6 hours (14 km).

Day 14 Monjo – Lukla – 2,800 m
We continue our trek to Lukla, walking around 6 hours (12km) and stay overnight.

Day 15 Lukla – Kathmandu 1400 m
We catch an early morning flight to Kathmandu after our long mountain journey. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. We take you for a cultural dinner in the evening.

Our driver will drop you at Tribhuvan International Airport for your international flight. Have a safe journey!
