What to Look for in Kenya Tour Reviews

Most trip reviews tend to focus on some or all of these 5 key areas, not all of which may be relevant to you: the tour guide, travel company, service level, country or countries traveled in, and the trip itinerary.

Remember, just because you see a 1 star review doesn’t necessarily mean that person disliked the country.

The change of environment and climate can be a shock to travelers. Africa is pretty hot, and the insects are unfamiliar to many travelers. By bringing mosquito repellant and other medicines, the chance of illness can be kept to a minimum. Another noted experience was from visitors who shopped at the street markets.

The vendors rely on tourists to make their income, so they are extremely outgoing and can be pushy to try to make a sale. Most of the time, the prices are negotiable too, so consider bargaining with a vendor if you see any item you really want.

Many visitors may go into their Africa trips unsure of what to expect, but many have said the trips exceeded their expectations. Being so close to the wildlife and nature is an invaluable experience. No two game drives are the same, and to be in the peaceful, quiet, serene outdoors, seeing animals roaming around, is one of the coolest experiences.

The landscape, the night sky and the up-close sightings of the animals are often highlighted by those who visit Kenya. Kenya has some awesome landscapes, including the open plains of Maasai Mara, the Rift Valley, and Mt. Kenya.

The animals are truly the highlight of trips to Kenya, and most of the time, people wish they had more time with the animals! Seeing the animals roam freely, and never knowing what animal you will see next is what creates such a magical experience. The guides who drive safari vehicles are experienced and know what to look for, meaning that visitors have a better chance of spotting animals. Simply put, there is no way to describe how amazing a safari is until one experiences it for themselves.

Many tours offer stays at lodges near game drives, and most customers were extremely impressed with the food quality and options. There is a huge variety of food, both local and international cuisine. The people working at the lodges were noted as friendly, knowledgeable, extremely accommodating, and added to a pleasant stay.

The people of Kenya are extremely friendly and kind to tourists. They are open and helpful to those visiting their native land, and willing to assist in whatever ways possible. While some people worry about the safety of traveling to Kenya, the basic common sense is usually enough to keep you safe.

Don’t flash valuables, being aware of your surroundings, and be mindful of what neighborhoods you’re going to (especially after dark) and everything should be safe. Especially when you get outside of the city (Nairobi) and into the safari lodges, it’s pretty safe. The premises are taken care of, and you’re surrounded by knowledgeable guides and staff.
