Everest Base Camp Tour Selection Trips
- When choosing your Everest Base Camp trek, it’s important to think carefully and realistically about the kind of experience you’re looking for. All treks to the Base Camp will be challenging, however there are different grades available.
- To maximize your experience, try to find a tour that utilizes local guides. Not only is this contributing back to the local economy in Nepal, you will have the benefit of someone who knows the language and customs of the mountain villages along the way.
- You should definitely train, and break in a good pair of hiking boots, before attempting a trek to Everest Base Camp. Even if you are already in good shape, most treks will require you to carry a pack and you’ll be hiking at high altitude. Make sure you consult your doctor as well to minimize any issues that could arise.
- That said, you don't need to be a regular long distance trekker or athlete to accomplish a hike to Everest Base Camp - similarly to the Inca Trail, it's doable for a wide range of fitness levels.
- Consult the tour company for suggestions on the best gear to bring. Also make sure you're aware of what's included!
- Plan ahead - you'll want to give yourself plenty of time to train and to gather all the supplies you'll need. A top tip is to practice packing your pack several times. You'll often find things you can discard, or that you need to make more room for necessities.
