- Rio is a lot safer than many people think. But be aware of your surroundings, don’t wander into a favela alone, and don’t have a lot of expensive gadgets on display.
- Sunset-watching is a popular activity in Rio, so grab a spot along the beach, grab a caipirinha or two, and join in the applause as the sun goes down.
- Though the favelas are dangerous places for tourists to enter alone, they are a fascinating part of the city. Joining a tour is a safe and easy way to explore this other site to Rio.
