What's this trip about?

Starting in Nairobi, this safari takes you to Sweetwaters Game Reserve, whose main attraction is the chimpanzee sanctuary. You can take a boat trip through the sanctuary, which is only one square kilometer in size, and spot some of the 26 orphaned chimps that inhabit the forest. Thereafter, we continue northward to Samburu National Reserve, situated on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in the semi arid northern frontier of Kenya, is worlds apart from the other parks in Kenya. It's not particularly well-known and as a result is less crowded. Samburu is home to large herds of elephants, and is well known for providing the opportunity to see wildlife that only lives in the dry north of Kenya. Be on the look out for gerenuks - odd, yet distinguishable, gazelle have long necks, and stand on their hind legs to feed. We proceed onwards to Lake Nakuru, which boasts of the world's most spectacular bird life sights: between one and two million lesser and greater flamingos feeding around the shores of the shallow soda lake, together with tens of thousands of other birds. You will also see warthog, waterbuck and large numbers of impala; slightly shyer residents include buffalo, Rothschild giraffe, eland, the occasional leopard and both black and white rhino. Our safari concludes in the Mara where we experience Kenya's finest wildlife reserve - where the land pulses with raw energy and a dazzling array of animals takes centre stage, thus ending our safari on a high note.

Safari Preparation

How should you prepare for safari

  • Our Safaris have been designed for the adventurous and out-door-loving wildlife lover. They are carefully planned to offer you the best Lodge safari experience and under canvas camping safari experience. Our Safaris range from non-participatory – where you use fully serviced permanent luxurious tented camps & lodges and enjoy the well-planned safari adventures, to the much more involving adventure trips where the guides and support staff put up and tear down the camp and take care of every detail.
  • To help you prepare for your Safari experience, we have shown main things that should be considered before booking your safari and how to prepare for the bush. To get you started you could read our safari FAQs, with common questions asked about choosing a safari and preparing for the.

A day on Safari

  • The day normally starts around 6am, when you get your wakeup call from a Maasai worrier and the early morning birds; dawn is normally at 6 am in the tropics. Tea, coffee or cocoa is served in the tents or at the lobby of the lodge before you embark on your game viewing drive. During the first hours of the morning, the savannah is filled with a special animation. This is when the larger predators hunt for their food, before the temperature becomes too hot for any excessive physical activity.
  • This is the time we have the highest chances of watching a hunt in action (also likely in the early evening). The colors of the landscape are also more accentuated, and help us to take great photographs. Late breakfast is served and the morning is opened to different activities. Barbeque Lunch is normally served from noon at the lawns of the camp or at the balcony of your tent or the main restaurant of the lodge and “a la carte” dinner served in the main restaurant of the Camp/ Lodge. Evening falls quickly in Africa, sun sets at 6 pm and its dark in 30 minutes.

How should you dress on your Safari?

  • To carry a sweater or Wear shorts, T-shirts during the day and long-sleeved shirts, pants in the evening for protection from mosquitoes and warmth as well. If you are sensitive to the sun loose cotton shirt is vital during the day. Khaki, olive, brown and beige colors are best for safaris and nature walks.
