What's this trip about?

The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront is Cape Town’s vibrant hub, and where your Southern Africa safari begins. Spend a few days exploring this colorful city, where you will sample South Africa’s best wines, innovative dining and visit the Cape of Good Hope, with a history dating back to the 15th century. This region makes up only 0.5% of Africa, and yet it is home to more than 20% of the continent’s plants. Fly to the bush for the start of your African safari at Royal Malewane in the Thornybush Game Reserve, and onto Singita in a private concession in the Kruger National Park. Both regions offer a diverse bush experience with phenomenal game viewing and guiding for a truly unforgettable African safari. The Silo, towering over the bustling Victoria and Alfred Waterfront and the yacht marina (3 nights), Royal Malewane located in Thornybush Private Game Reserve on the Western Border of The Greater Kruger National Park (3 nights), Singita Sweni set in 33, 000 acre private concession in the Kruger National Park (3 nights)

Rothschild Safaris specializes in custom safaris in Africa along with several other select wildlife-based destinations around the world. For years we've been winning accolades from Conde Nast, Travel + Leisure, and other luxury media brands.

We have a direct line to the best guides and a strong on-the-ground network to ensure client safety and a seamless itinerary. And due to our strong relationships and purchasing power, we can secure the best pricing for the best guides and locations.

WE ARE TRUE SPECIALIST

With over 30 years of experience of doing what we love most – planning journeys – we consider ourselves true specialists!

BEEN THERE, DONE THAT

Mention a lodge, hotel or destination and we have more than likely been there. Collectively we have traveled on hundreds of trips and experienced camps and lodges from the low end right up to the ultra luxurious – in our opinion that’s the only way!

DON’T HOLD OWNERSHIP IN ANY LODGE, CAMP OR SAFARI COMPANY

This means we are completely unbiased and free to recommend any lodging in Africa for you; unlike dealing with lodges or safari operators who are trying to sell you on their “own” camps or lodges, no matter how unsuitable this may be for you.

MAXIMIZE YOUR TRAVEL DOLLAR

We provide expert advice on where to save and where to spend.

How We Work

We know best how to match travelers up with the very best accommodations that suit their budget. BUT that is only one part of the equation. It’s the little details (things that many travelers don’t even know are possible) that we are great at including in our travelers’ trips. We don’t usually give out our little secrets, but to give you a sneak peak of what we may offer – a private dinner on a barge in the middle of the Zambezi River is one of our all-time favorites. But no more said on this now as we rather not spoil what we love to do for you!

Our First Phone Call

We always start with a phone call and a blank slate. The goal of our first conversation is to get to know you. We will ask you questions about your travel style, where you have travelled in the past, your specific interests and your intended budget for your safari. After we have worked through this process we will both have a better idea if we are a good fit.

Getting Down to Business

At this stage we find out if you have a specific trip you are interested in and set travel dates. We offer our advice on the best locations depending on when you are planning to go, the best months to travel, and continue to narrow down your options to specific areas and dates. At this point, if you decide you would like us to plan your trip, we then proceed with obtaining more specific information and collect an upfront non-refundable deposit of USD $200* which will be applied towards your trip.
