What travelers are saying

"When my partner and I went on a whale watching trip with Sea Kayak Adventures five years ago, we concluded that it was one of the best things we had ever done - especially the encounters with the grey whales in Magdalena Bay. I decided that I wanted an excuse to visit the whales again and I found this in a plan to go back with my family so that we could introduce them to my family and share their joy in this trip. As always, when organising such a treat, I was desperate that it would be as good a second time. I need not have worried, under the expert guidance of Monica (who amazingly had been a guide on our first trip) and Fabian our family group were wowed by whales that swam close, sky-hopped, breached and swam to our boat, rubbed against it, looked us in the eye mammal-to-mammal and then let us rub their skin. Wow oh wow! My niece even discovered that one whale had shared two of its sealice with her! Simply amazing and thanks to Monica and Fabian for sharing their knowledge, enthusiasm and expertise with us, and to Vicky for the excellent food."

Highlights

  • Enjoy with wildlife-watching, we kayak in the heart of orca territory in Johnstone Strait.
  • Our basecamp location provides opportunity for hiking, tide-pooling, and learning about the natural history of the area.
  • Admire an entire ecosystem including starfish, anemones, porpoises, eagles, and sea birds.
  • All tours are fully-catered (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and happy hour) with gourmet meals prepared daily by our guides—from scratch. Each day, you enjoy scrumptious meals before laying your head on a pillow merely meters from passing orcas.
  • This trip is ideal for families with older teens, novice to intermediate kayakers craving adventure, and whale lovers who want to experience up-close encounters with orcas! Guides bring hydrophones on all tours so you can hear the orcas communicating underwater while watching them interact.

What travelers are saying

"I have travelled with ROW numerous times, including four trips on the Rogue River. Every trip has been wonderful and every person associated with ROW has been nice, knowledgeable, professional and fun. The Rogue is a great river and the trip is an excellent one for two people or a large group—and I have done both. I’ve taken both of my kids, one time each, and have organized groups of colleagues twice; most recently in 2019 when 14 of us gathered. The guides at ROW are great and help to make the trip very enjoyable. The scenery, lodging and the wonderful outdoors including warm air and refreshing water, make for a wonderful escape from the everyday routine. The fact that this trip offers beds and indoor plumbing is a nice benefit and allows those who have an aversion to camping a chance to see the wilderness. I have recommended ROW and the Rogue trip more times than I can count and my group has already reserved our trip for 2021. What are you waiting for?"

What travelers are saying

"We've taken over 10 group tours using Cosmos and Gate1. This trip last month, 9000 was not very good. -During booking, incorrect information was given about airport-hotel transfers -The whispers (listening devices) didn't work from the get-go, so no whispers were used during the 13 day trip. - Porters are no longer hired to bring your luggage to and from your room. (Very elderly had to handle their own luggage. Our friends had to help many of them.) -A few days into the trip one couple left. At the end of the trip we found out they had covid. Cosmos did not let us know; a few people weren't feeling well and two of our friends then tested positive. -One hotel was awful and not even up to "budget" standards -Many of the stops had castles, churches... but were not included, so be sure to count that in when pricing.  don't plan to use Cosmos ever again. Gate1 is the best in my opinion. When my husband's passport was stolen, they assigned someone to go with him to the embassy, translate, etc...It was above and beyond what we expected  "

What travelers are saying

"We had a fabulous time full of adventures, dog sledding was my absolute favourite activity, it was so amazing and the snowmobiling was super fun, no surprises that it was Hayden’s (my eldest) favourite activity getting to drive his own snowmobile! Unfortunately the flight didn’t go to plan, Ewan was so scared and literally begged to turn around and go back a few minutes into the flight, I must admit it was quite nerve racking being in that tiny plane! Me and the kids were a bit freaked out so I had no problem aborting, my husband was loving it sat up front so it was a shame for him. Also unfortunate that we didn’t get to see the aurora because it was unseasonably warm and the skies were cloudy but the viewing facility was great and the birthday cake was yummy! The staff on all the trips were fabulous. Only negative feedback (and this is purely for your information and in no way a complaint) Earls - did not put any candles in Ewans birthday cake, I know you had specifically asked them to do that. At the aurora viewing they bought age 16 candles for Ewan, not age 12, the guy was really sorry, he said that was the age he was told by the office. Gold Rush Inn - super miserable and rude waitress serving breakfast! We had a great time, thank you so much for going out of your way to make it special. I will absolutely go and leave a review."

British Columbia Tour Selection Trips

  • You can combine a tour of British Columbia with a cruise through Alaska’s adjoining Inside Passage
  • Much of British Columbia is wilderness; if you’re looking to get away from it all near the U.S., this is the place
  • British Columbia geography can be a bit confusing, consisting of the mainland (home to the city of Vancouver) and nearby Vancouver Island, home to the provincial capital, Victoria
  • Even if you’re primarily interested in outdoor adventure, you aren’t likely to regret a visit to the city of Vancouver, which incorporates nature into its fabric
  • Peak season for whale-watching is May-October
