What's this trip about?

The Lemosho route is considered to be one of the newest routes to summit Kilimanjaro and as such does not attract the large number of trekkers that the Machame or Marangu route does. The most scenic and unspoilt of all the routes it traverses beautiful forests and moorlands. The trek begins at Londorossi gate, located in the western base of the mountain with its lush fertile rainforest. The route then crosses the caldera of Shira volcano before traversing beneath the ice fields of Kibo, Kilimanjaro’s highest volcano. The approach to the summit is made from the east, while the descent follows Mweka trail. The trip includes 8 days of trekking, which is 1-2 days longer than other routes, however it does provide you with the best chance of any route to acclimatise to the altitude and a better chance to summit.
